Welcome to the 18/19 season! Thanks for having me part of this fantastic club and I’m really looking forward to meeting you all.
I can feel a real sense of excitement around the club for the coming season. There has been great recent on field success, premierships, promotions, and individual achievements. Combined with the off-field developments of the new committee, the pavilion redevelopment, new nets, there is a lot of great stuff going on! We now have the challenge to back this up with another big year on the field, and build on the recent success with continued growth and even more success.
I am grateful to the club for having me on board. I am super excited to be back playing again and I love coaching. I look forward to working with all of you to help you be the best you want to be. I want us to have fun, enjoy our cricket and enjoy each others company and importantly enjoy each other’s success.
But these things just don’t happen by themselves, as players we all have to get the best out of ourselves, and look to continue the on-field success. The only way to keep improving and having success is for us to work hard, improve in all aspects of our games, whilst we challenge and support each other.
Pre-season is our opportunity to get us going in the right direction and establish a solid base for us to build on for a successful year. The pre-season schedule is attached. You can see the official training starts Tuesday 7 August at Mordi HQ indoor sports. We will have plenty of space and opportunity to have quality sessions and work on improving our skills. Training is going to be fun, challenging, and every session is an opportunity to improve. The facilities are booked from 8-9pm, however please aim to get there prior to 8pm to ensure we are ready to go. We also have some space after 9pm for those players wanting to do extra. Please let me know if you are interested to attend the extra hour so we can manage the bookings accordingly.
There is also opportunity to do some extra training through the remainder of July – a few guys are there on Tuesday nights in the nets at Mordi HQ sports so we can all get involved in that. September will see a mixture of indoor and outdoor training, practice matches, and other activities to help us prepare for the season. More information will be provided as we progress through the pre-season.
If you haven’t done so yet, now is the time to start to increase your base fitness. Get some miles in your legs now with a few runs so you can better enjoy pre-season training and focus more on the skill development.
Please remember that the coaches are here to help and support you. If there is anything that we can do please just let us know. If you want extra coaching, or another training session, advice or fitness help, please reach out.
Finally, to help us know more about each of you, we require each player to complete this quick survey. The information will be confidential to just the coaches and we will use the information to help us know more and work with you for the season.
